Your Beliefs Influence Your Dreams

Postby Methiculous » Thu Oct 31, 2013 10:16 pm

Whether you believe in gods, or science,
whether you believe in higher powers that influence us, or our own minds' that influence us,
whether you believe in astral projection as another realm that exists, or just a realm in your mind....

It has a huge impact on how we approach whatever we consider 'projections' to be.

Has anyone else noticed this? That explains the vast differences in the interpretations of these experiences.

Which one's right? Maybe none.

That means that our beliefs, need to be scrapped to harness the true potential of these 'states of consciousness'.
Our expectations are getting in the way, and we won't see it for what it really is... whatever 'it' is.

 (Think About It)
I close my eyes and see what I can see, whatever it may be.
It could be the sea, or I could see a bee.
Don't you see? It doesn't matter to me. Just let it be!

What if a child, who often experiences lucid dreams, false awakenings, and phase states, believes in the tooth fairy?
Then one day, they loose a tooth and it's placed under their pillow before bed. They know it's there, so naturally they dream about it.

Sometime in the night, during the phase state, they are in bed, but dreaming. (Happens to me sometimes). They sense a benevolent entity in their room. They look and see an angelic figure near their pillow.
"Are you the toothfairy?", the child asks. "Yes", it replies.

Their belief caused the dream to happen.
And then the dream confirmed their belief.

If one were religious they may ask, "Are you an angel?"
If one were scientific they may ask, "Are you an anima from my own psyche?"
If one believed in the astral plane they may ask, "Are you an astral being?"
If the entity says, "Yes", it confirms their beliefs.

But it's the same experience for each, so how can they all be right?
Perhaps they're all wrong!

I've experienced and seen/met many "things" I did NOT believe in before, this includes fairies btw.

Some I did not even know of and found about afterwards. An example would be Kundalini energy.

(I forgot to add, that if one believes in spirits, they would assume they saw a ghost. And if one believes in aliens, they would believe they are being visited. That last one is very common for people who get sleep paralysis for the first time, unwittingly.)

Experiencing things first before ever reading about it is the way to go.
The very act of learning about a new idea, can set this ball in motion of dreaming what you expect and then confirming it.
But it's unavoidable and I pick up a lot of information and superstitions whether I am aware of it or not.

Not knowing what that was, I decided to look it up.
Just like I was talking about before about projections, there are different interpretations of Kundalini.

1. Yogic Philosophy
2. Scientific Psychology

Apparently this can happen to someone out of the blue without any knowledge of Yoga. Maybe it's a condition that some people go through.

I believe in #2, and I'll be honest why. I had a panic attack two years ago, (or at least that's what I called it), but I had an incredible feeling, or perspective, that I was far off somewhere else and everything I was doing here in life was just an illusion for my senses. I was in a public place and felt everybody's mood all at once and it was too much. I couldn't take it. In psychological circles they would call it being, 'dissociative'. Reading about Kundalini, and especially for those who are unwilling, it reminded me of that.

In India they would have considered me touched by a god and enlightened. In North America, I am sent to a psychiatrist to be diagnosed.

Whatever the case it did change my perspective on reality. (It wasn't the first time, but that was the latest).

But I'm "better" now! ;)
I'm still lucid dreaming and thinking of deep thoughts. Some of us are just different, that's all.
I close my eyes and see what I can see, whatever it may be.

What would you say to a 4 year old who told you grandma has painted her walls orange. You know nothing of this at all. The following weekend you visit and the walls are more orange than the white they've been for many years. They decorated on a whim midweek.
When you asked the 4 year old how did you know? The response was," I went there when I was sleeping, its made the wall curly in that corner."
You look and see the paper has peeled in that same spot behind the chair. Nobody knew it had peeled off.
Is this a belief induced dream?
Absolutely not, it's real and verified.
Things like this that happen are not influenced by your knowledge. Other dreams ect are, very strongly too. ;)
The walls were painted magnolia, they wanted a change.

The child had no preconceived beliefs.

This is also why, us as adults, have to teach children (and beginners really, because their minds have usually already been polluted with mystical concepts and ideas) to not always interpret their experiences in the non-physical literally. It's not to tell them that the "tooth fairy" doesn't exist, but it teaches them to keep an open mind about "what" they experienced and how to best put the puzzle pieces together... especially if they're projecting very often. I'd go as far as to get a child to keep a log of these night time journeys, then to look back on them later on. Perhaps writing the journal even with the help of the parents present... not to coax, but to guide.

Children see without polluted minds.
But every adult was once a child, and our regressive, inner selves are within us.
When I lucid dream, I feel like a child again, exploring for the first time.

(Notice how I don't answer anything?) I'm just musing and pondering...
It can get annoying, I know, but it feels good.

I want to hear someone get angry at me! Tell me I'm wrong and why! :x
I can take it. Rip me a new one! (Not that I want a new one....)   (I'm happy with the one I have)

I forgot I was at a polite forum with intelligent, respectable people... what was I thinking?!
(I'd still like to be told I'm wrong, though). :D

Two things: Fist, I think this was the record for the most emoticons ever, and second, without being proven wrong I might start to believe in my own crap! :P
