What about whirlpools?
Sorry couldn't resist. :D
The metaphorical waters are also related to our time in our present existance. It's flowing linearly and where we find ourselves in this depicts the life offering its merits and pitfalls. The meandering latter stages flow smoothly could easily be one who has learned and accepted many of lifes teachings while the turbulent rapids may indicate many issues contradicting themselves with the psyche. Ego and indecision being prominent. Thrust around in its fury from side to side with obstacles, ever shifting but travelling on at the same pace as those in the learned and peaceful meandering stages.

I like that. Yes, there are whirlpools. The trick is not to get caught up in them, or like a hurricane - find the calm eye of the storm.

The eye of the storm is indeed calm. It's potency surrounds you with its fury. To move with the eye of the storm is a false security. We walk on land, however hard we try, we cannot walk on water. Following this eye we will end up in more trouble than we could handle. Always moving into the chaos left from its leading, destructive edge. Why walk in the pain of others?

Let the storm pass. Learn it's teachings. Next time you'll be ready, safe on familiar ground.
Wisdom is learned from careful thinking. Enlightenment is improved in understanding wisdom carefully.
