Any Anime Fans out there?

Though technically not a book, Anime is a story worth discussing and reviewing.
It's a style of Japanese Animation and some of them can get quite deep and thought provoking.

I'm not trying to persuade anybody to watch these, but if you have already and want to talk, I'm here.
Just because they are animated doesn't mean they are for kids. These ones are very intelligent and thought provoking:

  • Cowboy Bebop (in particular, episode 23: Brain Scratch)
  • Neon Genesis: Evangelion
  • Akira
  • Paprika

(The first two are series and the last two are movies)

I'm just trying to get a fan club, or a 'book club' together to talk, and this is not off-topic at all. Every one of these relates to what we talk about here on this site. They can get very existential about the physical body and consciousness. Paprika makes Inception look like child's play! (Maybe I am being a little persuasive in a round about way aren't I?)

Whatever. I'm just putting it out there. Do what you want with this.
I close my eyes and see what I can see, whatever it may be.
It could be the sea, or I could see a bee.
Don't you see? It doesn't matter to me. Just let it be!

Paprika is a movie and not a series.
I brought it up a while back on the World Of Lucid Dreaming forum.
It has left a lasting impression on me.

I looked around and this was the best one I could find. Some are in German and others have the audio out of sync...
Anyway, this one is in Japanese with English subtitles, but is a truer version without any 'loss of translation'.
You just have to read a lot but this is the book section after all so nobody here is afraid of that. ;)
Just close the ads, and enlarge the video to full screen and your set. It's a free movie! (broken into three parts, but you get what you pay for)
