A suggestion for this website.

To Xanth: (and others listening)

I didn't have any place to suggest this. I just wanted to recommend this idea:

How about a section: NEW TOPICS?

That way, a person can log in, check out what is new without having to peruse through all the categories.
The new topics in the list will last for, let's say a week, or so, it is up to you, before they are removed.
And of course they are just a link to the actual post so nothing is deleted; they are just removed from the NEW TOPICS category.
It would be a 'WHAT'S NEW SECTION." Either new topics, recent posts or both.

I think that would help draw me in more, and others. That was my first thought when I logged in right now: "What's New? I don't know. Do I have to search every category? Gah, I'm lazy!"

I'm not sure how to add this. I bet it's possible, and it would be a great addition.
(In fact, having to post this here leads to another idea: a suggest box.

No worries if you don't. I only suggest, and critique because I care,

Don't you see? It doesn't matter to me. Just let it be!

So, what you're asking for is a way to read new posts that people have made?

If so, there's a link at the top of the forum called "View new posts", if you click that, it'll show you a list of all of only the threads which have had new posts in it. :)

Is that what you were looking for?

If it's not what you're asking, could you further clarify what you're asking?
I'm sure there's a mod or something I can find somewhere to add said feature! :)
I'm always up for a bit of forum hacking! :D

I was going to add in brackets at the end:
(Maybe there is one already and I just don't know). And I looked again, but didn't find it.

For some reason it is not obvious to me.

FINALLY after reading your reply and a little searching, I found it. I have to press on the 'Board Index' and there it is in fine print

I was searching through the 'jump to category' section. That was my main way of navigating.

If this is just me who has this problem, forget about it. But if others say the same thing, than make it bigger, bolder, in red or something to make it more obvious. Or add it to the 'jump to category' section.

(And I am not complaining, just suggesting.... I think it would be a good idea)

I should be able hack it into red font easily enough. Just a matter of finding the right template file. :-)

I'll try to do it tomorrow.

But definitely a great suggestion. I always enjoy that feature on other forums and find it hard to find!

I use it constantly and it's great. Yeah, aa bigger button or something would help but I bookmarked it to get on this site and it works every time.
